AI in Survey Research and Synthetic Respondents
AI speeds up survey work: drafting questions, reviewing them, coding open-ended answers and summarizing results. It does not replace real respondents. Synthetic respondents, which are AI-generated answers, can look close to a real sample on the headline, but they can miss subgroups and rare answers. Use them, if at all, for early tests you will check with real people.

AI-moderated interviews run video or voice conversations with real customers, and a model chooses the follow-up questions. They can reach more people than one human moderator can. Listen Labs is one example. Before you commit, check that participants are real, that findings trace back to transcripts, and what the platform costs, since pricing is mostly quote-based.

Trend discovery tools watch search, social and web signals to flag topics that are growing before they are obvious. Exploding Topics is one widely used example. Search data shows interest, not demand, and a rise can come from a news event that fades. Use trend tools to generate ideas, then size and check the promising ones with other sources.
